Film Poster Analysis

The typical codes and conventions of this film poster is the eye catching image which will kind of show a bit of what the film is going to be about and it can tell the audience about the genre. The other conventions that this film poster includes is the production blurb Probably the most important thing in a poster is the name of the film because audience will want to know what the film is called.  Also audience would expect the rating of the film, to see how good the film is. There is expectance of seeing the certificate, to see if the film is appropriate for younger people. Critic view would be expected as well which will give the audience information if the film has any ups and downs and probably how good is it as well.
The genre of the film is horror.  You can see that of the image and the way the name of the film is written.  This girl in the main image looks scary because you can barely see her eyes because they are dark because of the shadow. It is also because of her face expression, she looks serious and quite angry. The background is dark red which might represent blood in any ways and the house which you can barely see with only one window light up. The title of the movie also makes it scary because it looks that it’s been scratched on or that a girl or a boy who been learning how to write wrote it. And the little girl with the bloody background and the scratched movie title add up to being scary.
The titles has been designed this way because that would make the audience think or make them expect that this is going to be about little kids, because when little kids start writing, they write in a similar shrift.  And because the title is written in a kid’s shrift, this movie is going to be about little or young kids, its going make the movie even scarier.
I think that people who love scary films would love to see this film. Most horror films are scary if they have young kids in it that are mysterious. This is exactly what like the girl in the image is. The main selling point might be that the film is about an orphan, which makes the film a bit different from the other films. The thing that makes the film even more interesting is that it is all realistic, not computer made or exaggerated like films about ghosts in which people wouldn’t really believe in.
My poster and film doesn’t reference to any intertextual products.
The company that produced the film is Warner Bros.  Warner Bros is one of the most knowing film company known and is a major Hollywood company.  The film company would place the posters in most viewable places that people would see like: on the buses, in the bus stops, on the back of the magazines on television.
