Analysis of magazine cover

Inside the magazine there will be guidance on what to do when the toddler is crying. Also it gives guidance on how to change the nappies, how to feed the baby and etc.
The target audience for this magazine are mothers of new born babies or mothers who are still pregnant. The age on who reads the magazine doesn’t matter because a woman can be pregnant at any age.
Their interests are about the babies, how to feed them and etc. The magazine is using direct mode of address. The image in the magazine tries to engage you with the image that the mother with the baby is happy.
The front cover image is a woman holding a baby, because the magazine is for women with newborn babies.
The anchorage text say ‘Make the most of your maternity leave’, meaning that the mother should make the most of it when she leaves her job when she is pregnant.
The overall message that the person is giving is that that the mother of the baby is happy and the baby himself is happy. It is also giving the message that the parent is good.
The ‘buzz’ word in the magazine is the ‘FREE’ word.  This catches the reader’s eye and makes him think what he/she can get for free and then makes the audience buy the magazine cause of the free thing they can get.
The title design shows that the title is kind of feminine. The letters are in red/pink colour and they are also round and soft which kind of represents a woman.
The puffs suggest that inside the magazine there’s going to be handbook about the new born baby, about the maternity leave. The audience that the puffs are expecting to get are mainly women but it could also be men.
There are no slogans.
The colours that are used are mainly womanly like red, yellow and pink. I find them attractive because it will attract the woman more because the colours are soft.
The strategies that the magazine is using to attract the audience are the main image which shows a happy woman with a happy baby in her arms. It is also using the big word ‘FREE’ that will catch the audience eye that they can get something for free.

Analysis of two page spread

The choice of the artist in this article suggests that the target audience would mainly be teenagers who are interested in the artist’s life and perhaps want to know about her more. The language that is used in the article is relaxing but also quite formal. The quotes that could explain the style of the magazine article could be ‘You will, even if only subliminally, have heard ‘Someone like you’, the ballad she wrote about a botched lo0ve affair, which is performed at Brits, making everyone (including herself) cry.’
The colour that are used throughout the whole pages, are used is mainly purple, black and white. These colours are a bit dim, but soft. Making this article and her pictures look calm and soft. There are no bright colours added to this article.
On the 4 pictures of Adele, the anchorage text is used in a soft, quite big italic writing, making it different from the text that the article is written in.
In total there are 7 pages, in which it includes 4 and a quarter of the pages of Adele, and 2 and a quarter pages of text. It also includes the anchorage text on the pictures.
The magazine is using a gentle, relaxing tone when addressing the reader. It is also addressing or a person that is interested in Adele’s life and would like to know more about her and her career.
Adele is presented as a calm and quite serious person. By looking in the pictures, you can see that she is pretty happy, but keeping it all to herself and not expressing it too much. The mode of address that she is using is a direct mode of address which is trying to interact with the reader.

The style of the font cover and the article are similar because they both include the italic bold font (even on the pictures). Also there is the same style of the article font on the front cove, maybe just written in bold.
The article demands some knowledge about the artist before reading the article. But for people, who want to know more about her, can read the article and find out more about her background.

Analysis of the content page

The magazine uses images of girls with different clothes which represent the fashion. The way these images have been constructed is similar because they all have to do with fashion and representing the clothes. The colours in the content page are nothing like the colours on the front cover because the colours on the content page are just red and black, whereas on the front cover there is orange and white. The style in which the work ‘Vogue’ is written is different on both the content and the front page. The styles of the fonts are kind of similar in some bits, because the italic font is used in content and front page. The information is organised in different sections with different subtitles. The different sections are about Fashion, The English woman; Beauty which makes it easier for the audience to know what each section will be about. This tells me that there is going to be lots of stuff to read in this magazine and that magazine is really organised and there are a variety of things in it. The only promotional feature is the line ‘Six issues for only £12’. The magazine logo is placed at the top of the page. The logo is dominant because it is written in big, visible letters on the top of the page.
